Privacy Policy

We keep this simple: we collect only what you share, we use it only to evaluate a partnership, and we never sell it.

DeepScale.Ventures (“DeepScale,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website and any related services (collectively, the “Site”), how we use and disclose it, the legal bases on which we rely, and the rights and choices available to you. By using the Site or submitting information to us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

01Scope and application

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site, through email and other electronic communications with us, and through the application or pitch materials you submit. It does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any third-party application or content that may link to or be accessible from the Site.

This Privacy Policy is intended to satisfy applicable data protection requirements, including, where relevant, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, “CCPA/CPRA”). Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meanings given to them under applicable law.

02Information we collect

Information you provide to us. When you complete a contact, pitch, or application form, subscribe to updates, or otherwise communicate with us, we collect the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, company name, role, website, location, and the contents of your submission, including pitch decks, business plans, financial information, and any other materials you elect to share.

Information collected automatically. When you access the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this information using cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from third parties. We may receive information about you from publicly available sources, mutual contacts who refer you to us, co-investors, and data enrichment providers, which we may combine with the information we already hold for the purposes described below.

03How we use your information

We use personal information to: (a) evaluate, review, and respond to inquiries, pitches, and investment opportunities; (b) conduct due diligence and assess potential or actual investments; (c) communicate with you, including to schedule meetings and provide updates; (d) operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site; (e) send you newsletters or other communications where you have requested them or where otherwise permitted by law; (f) comply with legal, regulatory, audit, and risk-management obligations; and (g) establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.

04Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal information on the following legal bases: (a) our legitimate interests in evaluating opportunities, operating our business, and securing the Site, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights; (b) the performance of, or steps taken at your request prior to entering into, a contract; (c) your consent, which you may withdraw at any time (for example, for marketing communications); and (d) compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.

05How we disclose information

We may disclose personal information to: (a) our personnel, advisors, and affiliates who need it to carry out the purposes described above; (b) service providers and processors that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, email, and customer-relationship-management providers, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations; (c) co-investors, syndicate partners, and professional advisors in connection with evaluating an opportunity; (d) regulators, law-enforcement agencies, courts, or other parties where required by law or to protect our rights; and (e) acquirers or successors in the context of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

06International data transfers

We operate in multiple jurisdictions and may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

07Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to evaluate ongoing or future opportunities, to maintain appropriate business and transaction records, and to comply with our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. When information is no longer required, we will delete or anonymize it in accordance with our retention practices and applicable law.

08Your rights and choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: (a) access the personal information we hold about you; (b) request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information; (c) request deletion of your information; (d) object to or restrict certain processing; (e) request portability of information you provided to us; and (f) withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Where the CCPA/CPRA applies, you may also have the right to know, delete, correct, and to be free from discrimination for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@deepscale.ventures. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

09Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any credentials and communications with us confidential.

10Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for business users and is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can delete it.

11Third-party links and “Do Not Track”

The Site may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy practices. Because there is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals, the Site does not currently respond to such signals.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date below and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

13Contact us

If you have questions or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at privacy@deepscale.ventures or by mail at DeepScale.Ventures, San Francisco, California, United States.
